The 2006 Frostig Collection

Robert Graham

was born in Mexico City and studied at San Jose State University and the San Francisco Art Institute. Since 1964, his work has been the subject of over eighty solo exhibitions and two retrospective exhibitions in the United States, Europe, Japan and Mexico. His work is part of many national and international museum collections. His civic monuments and major public works in Los Angeles include the Olympic Gateway and The Great Bronze Doors of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.

Robert Graham designed the ingenious box for his charming sculpture of a seated figure. The figure is stored inside until inverted, when the box becomes the figure’s base.
