Robert Graham
was born in Mexico City and studied at San Jose State
University and the San Francisco Art Institute. Since 1964, his work
has been the subject of over eighty solo exhibitions and two retrospective
exhibitions in the United States, Europe, Japan and Mexico. His work
is part of many national and international museum collections. His
civic monuments and major public works in Los Angeles include the
Olympic Gateway and The Great Bronze Doors of the Cathedral of Our
Lady of the Angels.

Robert Graham designed the ingenious box for his charming sculpture
of a seated figure. The figure is stored inside until inverted,
when the box becomes the figure’s base.
