Guy Dill

began showing with prestigious galleries like Ace Gallery in Los Angeles and Pace Gallery in New York, very soon after earning his BFA with Honors from Chouinard Institute of Art. He has also received many awards since then -- the Theodoron Award from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, two NEA grants, the Artist’s Award from the California Heritage Museum and most recently, the Stars of Design Lifetime Achievement for Art Award from the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles. His work is in most major museum collections, such as the Albright-Knox Museum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, the Norton Simon Museum of Art, the National Museum of American Art at the Smithsonian, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Whitney Museum of American Art, among others. Dill is represented by Leslie Sacks Gallery, Santa Monica and Peter Findlay Gallery, New York.

Dill’s method of sculpting in bronze is like his signature: very unique and easily identifiable. Close-Hauled is a perfect example of this -- strong, sleek lines, bending, reaching and circling each other, geometry at its elegant best. The Frostig Collection’s version is a true maquette or small model; the original is a 3-story bronze measuring 33 by 16 by 16 feet, permanently installed outdoors at the Regency Bal Harbour Hotel in Miami, Florida.
